The man behind URSULA 1000 is none other than the mild mannered, multi-instrumentalist Alex Gimeno. Based in New York City, Alex’s style evolved and transitioned from the sophisticated & hip background score provided by his father, a renowned member of the 50’s Latin orchestra, Los Chavales De Espana, to the heady rock, punk, disco, funk and electronic dance music of his generation. Alex smoothly moves back and forth between musical styles from the glamorous Jet Set era to frenetic electronica. Alex cannot be boxed in, categorized or labeled, his music is a multi-leveled eclectic blend of styles and genres. Finding a label to house this eclecticism could be tricky. Lo and behold came the smart and highly respected Eighteenth Street Lounge Music label, operated by Washington DCs Thievery Corporation.
Keeping up with the jetsetting image, you can catch URSULA 1000 dj-ing his transcontinental grooves at discothèques worldwide like the prestigious Fabric in London to 30,000 screaming people at Australia’s Good Vibrations Festival. He’s also done shows for fashionistas like Prada, Issey Miyake, Hugo Boss, Miss Sixty, Fiorucci, H&M, Diesel and Christian Dior. When in New York you can also catch him at his weekend residency at the swank APT.
Alex has also been very busy on the remix front adding his magic to tracks by Felix da Housecat, Quincy Jones, The Faint, Fort Knox Five, Nicola Conte and Pierre Henry to name a few, as well as being asked to remix the theme songs of The Incredibles, The Powerpuff Girls and Sesame Street. He has also supplied music to a number of hit shows like Entourage, Sex and the City and Grey’s Anatomy.
Currently locked up in his mad laboratory, Alex is conjuring up the next Ursula 1000 adventure. Expect some magic...soon!

Based in Vancouver, Canada's Kevin Shiu has been at the forefront of club culture since the early '90's. His magic touch, keen foresight and suave mannerisms have propelled him into headliner status at clubs around the world. His signature style ranges from deep tech house through driving progressive house and remains true to the underground sound that first inspired him: a deep, moody sound with pounding percussion and a mighty hypnotic groove.
Kevin’s former club night and residency at Focus in Vancouver propelled the night to become one of the top club nights in the city, his guests including Desyn Masiello, Luke Fair, Jimmy Van M, Chris Fortier, Paulo Mojo and Phil K. His 5 hr Journey sets are legendary and eagerly anticipated by his fans. Kevin’s talent for playing the right tracks at the right time is paying off as John Digweed, Sasha and Tiesto all request for Kevin to open for them whenever they are in Vancouver. Plus Kevin toured with the man himself, Sasha, in Asia.
Kevin’s studio works with partner John Morgan (Powerplant) have been supported by top names in the industry. Kevin's talent is never ending. His enthusiasm and fervor thrives for good quality electronic dance music. He instills a high standard of quality and professionalism. It is his positive influence on others and his reputation as a genuine and diligent visionary that has helped put himself on the map.
